We scrubbed, and we brushed;hauled buckets of water from Dundee, and scoured the lands for decorative materials. Pulled nails from old floorboards, and hammered fresh boards in place. And all the time we were aware that an attack could be imminent. Those who could fight demons that appeared around the town did so bravely so that our labours could continue undisturbed. All those who came along worked when they could, took a short break for refreshment when time allowed, rested when they had to.
The work was hard, and took many, many marcs. But it was done in a spirit of fellowship and joy. We shared mugs of ale, skins of water, and what food people had with them. And we shared jokes and songs too, as we made headway in the mammoth task.
Traders returned to the marketplace as we worked, and helped us repair the stalls. Soon the place was as busy as ever. Some of the townsfolk helped in another task. The streets and the smithy were cleansed and cleaned, and at last we came to the temple. Inside and out it's now redecorated and repaired.
Long and hard work, yes. But at last all was done, and we could look around at what we had wrought. Tired as we were, some covered in dust, others smudged with paint, we felt the unity of the people in the lands. And it was with a sense of pride and accomplishment that we could share the words that once more Branishor is risen.
